In case it helps anybody, the component I found is TAdvStringGrid. It does all I wanted and much more. I was getting useful results within 2 hours of downloading it. Some of the additional features I hadn't thought of but have used anyway. The application has a significantly improved interface inside 1 day.

So much easier and faster than anything I used in VB.Net. Just great! I think you have done a great job with these and just wanted to let you know to keep up the good work. I was very impressed with the speed of your grid as some of the files being loaded are > 30000 rows, the performance is still very good. Although I don't use many of the newer advanced features I have found it to be a very solid work horse.
