In case it helps anybody, the component I found is TAdvStringGrid. It does all I wanted and much more. I was getting useful results within 2 hours of downloading it. I am a registered user of several TMS software packages. For the longest time I have been using the TMS Grid to do everything that the TStringGrid never could think of doing.
