Celebrating 20 days the 20 year company anniversary!

It’s a special year for our team as we celebrate the company’s 20th birthday this month. We’ve come a long way over the years, so we wanted to celebrate this together with YOU!
Officially on October 17, 2000 the company tmssoftware.com bvba was registered in Belgium. tmssoftware.com bvba ws founded by Bruno Fierens to prepare his operations for the next steps and next level. Since the very beginning of Delphi in 1995, Bruno Fierens was operating as self-employed consultant developing and offering VCL components on the market.
On October 17, we plan to look back a bit more in detail on the history of the company but from today we start the 20 days action to celebrate our 20 year anniversary!

Yes, you hear that correct. For every license purchased (new license, upgrade, renewal) you receive 20% EXTRA time of free updates and free support coming with the product. So, products that come with free 1 year of updates and support, you now receive 20% more, or 438 days instead of 365 days (1 year).This action runs for 20 days, from October 8 to October 28. Happy birthday TMS and my congratulations to Bruno Fieren. I read his book introduction, looking back the last 20 years. It would be worth to publish it here also.

Congratulations on 20 years! I remember buying some of your first components and having Bruno answer my emails personally. Your components always made my job easier and still do!

Many years ago I purchased what was then known as Diagram Studio, a VCL product (now rewritten as FNCBlox I think). I purchased the full product which got me the source code as well. Studying the code I realized that it was based on parametric principles, with co-ordinates measured in terms relative to the x,y origins. I had this type of coding when converting libraries of code designed for a computer controlled routing machine, so I decided to give it a try and develop my own diagram shapes. I wrote a library for arrows whose size and shape could be altered in a number of ways, and one other shape set, and was so pleased with the results that I offered the code to Wagner Landgraf at TMS. I was delighted when my arrow code appeared in a later update. I even got a mention in the .pas file header. My shapes had no visible grab-handles, but it was inspiring to see that I could produce something that a company like TMS would want to use.

Turning sixty nine this year has definitely slowed me down. Looking back on my previous post I can see an error. It was the length and width of the shape that was used not the origin. Co-ordinates were expressed as a proportion of length and width, so that the shape would stretch and shrink with the overall size of the shape. Individual points could then have the proportional value set (as a public property) in order to change the visual aspects such as the size of the arrow head or the length and thickness of its shank. Also I think the other code created basic rectangle shapes with arrows coming out of one or more sides. I used Diagram Studio until FMX components were released, then I had the opportunity to write apps for mobiles and for Macs. Still a user today!

Congratulations! I don''t know how I could have created and managed so many projects without the AdvStringGrid! And although there is already so much functionality in it I''m using my own derived version with automatic column widths, enhanced export to Excel (including text colors, backround colors, comments, merged cells and more), the possibility to fill in static data at design time and more. This often allows me to build a new tool in hours instead of days! Support is also great! Thanks.
