Flexcel Installation

FLX TMS FlexCel for VCL & FMX

Hello,

I am trying to install Flexcel for Win32 and 64 for dXE4, dXE8, dSeattle and dBerlin. Here I attach
the Flexcel-Build_log.txt, the last lines. In the last paragraph installation fails with dXE8 FlexCel_Core.dproj. And all later installations are skipped.
What can be the reason? I did not want to install Android!

Hi,

The error seems to be because you don't have correctly installed Delphi XE8 for android. The setp is designed to stop in the first error, so it doesn't waste more of your time once it knows the setup won;t be successful. (Originally it used to try to install everything even if there were errors, so you might end up waiting a lot just to realize the setup had a problem)

 If you don't want to install android, you can say so in the FlexCel setup. When you arrive to the "Select components" screen, just unselect android, for all the delphi version you are installing to:

Note: if you just want VCL support (what seems to be the case here: only win32/64), then at the bottom of that screen you can select to not install Firemonkey support:

When you uncheck that box, it will uncheck all the "android, ios, osx" boxes and also not install the previewer for firemonkey, only for VCL.

As I have now the RAD Tokyo, I wonder if using Flexcel is possible, in a project where some files could be written in Java ?
As I doesn't know Java at all, I ask only because a friend is working to finally accomplice the same things but in a weird universe (Java, free SQL databases, and at the end installing his program in the Web, multiusers, aso)
I was stunned as Tokyo offers directly the possibility to open a Java file (*.js).
I didn't even think to write something with Androïd as target, but if I can do it and on the top, put in the project some files using Flexcel,..

Hi,

Sorry, but Tokyo doesn't run with Java. Js files are normally "Javascript" files which despite the confusing name have nothing to do with Java, but Tokyo can't do much more than to open js files either.

FlexCel can run anywhere Tokyo can, and that includes android, but Tokyo runs in Android by using the NDK (native development kit), which is in C, not Java.
